Survey Reveals CISO Cloud / SaaS Concerns and Plans in a Work-from-Home World

In response to cloud/SaaS concerns related to the work-from-home trend, companies are planning to make considerable new investments in security solutions, according to a new survey of Chief Information and Security Officers (CISOs) and other IT security practitioners, released today by Enea and Cybersecurity Insiders. Specifically, an overwhelming 90 percent of respondents report plans for new cloud-based security solutions, and 82 percent intend to make new investments in on-premises security.

Among planned investments, an additional 35 percent of companies will join the 28 percent who have already done so in deploying virtualized, software-defined Wide Area Networks (SD-WAN) to provide unified connectivity across home, branch, edge, data center and multi-cloud infrastructure. 25 percent of respondents also plan to subscribe to a Secure Access Service Edge (SASE) solution, joining the 17 percent who have already adopted SASE, which incorporates or integrates with SD-WAN to deliver unified networking and security as a cloud service, with the dynamic scaling and provisioning that accompany all SaaS solutions.

As the demand for solutions like SASE and SD-WAN increases, so does the need for real-time, application-level network traffic visibility. As the leading supplier of commercial-grade traffic intelligence software based on Deep Packet Inspection (DPI), Enea has accordingly seen increased interest by cloud networking and security vendors in its flagship Qosmos ixEngine product. This product is a software development kit (SDK) embedded in the traffic management and security components at the heart of SASE and SD-WAN solutions. It delivers accurate real-time classification of all traffic, including encrypted and evasive traffic, and provides granular insights into network activity. Cybersecurity vendors use this intelligence to build both cloud and on-premise solutions that detect and neutralize threats while optimizing the flow of safe traffic.

To learn more about CISO plans and the specific SaaS cloud practices and concerns driving them, join us for a live webinar on October 1, 2020 in which a panel of security experts from Cybersecurity Insiders, Netskope and Enea will present the findings and discuss how both cybersecurity managers and product vendors can address those concerns.

The host of the webinar, Cybersecurity Insiders CEO Holger Schulze, states “we are at a pivotal moment when the cloud is playing a more important role than ever, and yet CISO concerns over cloud security remain stubbornly high. This survey and webinar provide an excellent opportunity to better understand these concerns, and explore how companies, cloud service providers and cybersecurity solutions vendors can work together to maximize cloud security, and thereby unleash the full transformational power of the cloud for the modern digital enterprise.”
