Service intelligence, subscriber intelligence, security
intelligence, application intelligence… Well let’s just call it
“Network Intelligence”! But it highlights an obvious need to
understand what is happening on networks. Our experience at Qosmos
shows there are currently 3 top telecom applications where Network
Intelligence is becoming key:
1. Policy and Charging Control (PCC)
Network equipment manufacturers and policy solution vendors need to support their service provider customers with new solutions for advanced policy control - this requires built-in Network Intelligence
2. Operator BI and Subscriber Analytics
Business intelligence and subscriber analytics solutions are key
for service providers who wish to run their business more
effectively - they need accurate and real-time information, directly
from network flows
3. Subscriber Quality of Experience
Specialized QoS/QoE vendors need to provide carriers with
insight into customer satisfaction by giving them accurate and
detailed information about who their subscribers are, what
applications they use and what service quality they experience -
this can’t be done without Network Intelligence
I am pleased to say that embedded Qosmos Network Intelligence
technology strengthens solutions and provides unbeatable results in
all 3 cases!

Three questions to Pete Moore, of Moore Performance Systems (MPS)
1. Who is MPS?
MPS is a software development and consulting firm based in San
Jose, California. We specialize in high-performance software and
L2-L7 protocol processing on multi-core platforms leveraging
hardware acceleration features. MPS is staffed with experienced
Silicon Valley veteran software engineers, many with more than 25
years of experience. We are a Qosmos Expert Developer (QED).
2. Could you give us some examples of your work?
Several of our clients are Qosmos customers who use MPS as an
extension of their in-house development teams: we provide
best-in-class Qosmos development and integration expertise, which
translates into faster time-to-market and quality assurance for new
Qosmos-based solutions. For confidentiality reasons, I cannot name
our clients, but I can say that we work for Qosmos customers both in
the US and in EMEA. Current projects include software development
and optimization on NetLogic (XLR) and Tilera TilePro.
3. Why did you choose to work with Qosmos?
Qosmos is the only pure-play vendor of embedded DPI & Network
Intelligence technology. Their ixEngine SDK comes with a strong
reputation and has the longest track record on the market. From the
beginning, I was impressed with Qosmos technology: the advanced
traffic parsing capabilities, the number of protocols supported, and
the ability to handle difficult traffic situations. Qosmos is also
the only supplier who supports all leading multi-core architectures:
Netlogic, Freescale, Cavium, Tilera and Intel. This is exactly in
line with our strategy and core expertise.

Network Intelligence enables CSPs to improve services
The world economy is well on its way to becoming a true ‘network
economy’. The growth of network data due to the accelerating
adoption of mobile and cloud computing by business and consumers
requires networks and their underlying technologies to meet new
demands.
Advanced forms of DPI enable CSPs to optimize the massive volume
of data crossing networks, secure data in transit, track data for
regulatory and business purposes, and help content providers to
monetize data through new service offerings.

Qosmos technology to power TEOCO’s new analytics solution
TEOCO Corporation, the market leader in Network Cost Management,
Least Cost Routing, Revenue Management and Service Assurance
solutions for communications providers worldwide, has announced it
will leverage Qosmos’ Network Intelligence (NI) technology to power
their new analytics solution,
ping.
ping is the newest offering in TEOCO’s SONAR™ suite of usage analytics solutions.
ping collects and correlates millions of
disparate events and data transactions - tying together real-time
network activity with service providers’ business support systems
(BSS) and content partners. This is accomplished using Qosmos’ NI
probes and TEOCO’s advanced analytics platform. The result is a
solution that enables service providers to drive new business models
and revenue streams by deriving intelligence from the data
traversing the network.
